So you’re planning a hen party, firstly please breathe, it will all work out in the end I promise! Its not the easiest of events to plan, trying to please everyone from the partying till 5am kind, to your friends grandma who likes to be tucked up by 9pm. Not to forget the pressure of choosing a party you know the bride will love!
So I thought I’d share with you my 10 non negotiable’s when it comes to hen parties….
1. Invites
Start the hen party as you mean to go on! Simply head over to Canva.com and design a beautiful hen invitation, they’ve even designed beautiful templates for you! Choose whether to print and post these out to your hens or pop them into an email. Either way, you’re already catching their attention rather than sending a text message that can get lost or forgotten about.
2. Theme till the end!
- Pastel Dreams
Pick your theme and follow it though to the second you get home! The bride to be may have a love of retro or Harry Potter or unicorns. Whatever the theme, bring this into as many parts of the hen as possible!
Not only will you have the bride to be gasping or giggling every time she spots something, you will have so many beautiful photo opportunities for everyone to treasure.
3. Memorabilia
Have you ever been to a festival and kept the wristband? Or been to a concert and brought a T-shirt? Or kept a hessian bag from that boutique shop you love?
Memorabilia is one of my favourite touches at Hen Weekends, because lets face it who doesn’t love finding a lanyard from a festival you attended a decade ago and having a trip down memory lane?!
The options are endless from wristbands and lanyards, to beautiful totes and bracelets, or luggage tags and t-shirts.
4. Line up
So for those of you who know me well, you know I love an itinerary! But honestly when it comes to planning for a group of people, preparation is king!
Say you’re on a night out, just finished dinner and want to head out for cocktails. You haven’t done your research and you’ve got a group of 25 women who aren’t concentrating, going in all different directions trying to find the best mojito’s in town. Nightmare!
Keep the hens in line and plan your day, I’m not saying it has to be to the minute and obviously plans can change, but this will help you breathe throughout the day knowing that there’s something lined up.
5. Activities
- Springtime Bridal Shower
Probably the hardest decision you’ll make for this hen weekend! There’s so many weird and wonderful activity choices for hen party’s that it’s a bit of a mine field. Depending on whether you’re hosting a full weekend or a day party will determine if, and how many activities you need to organise. At Pitch Boutique we work with an amazing team of suppliers for our activities so if you’re struggling to think of ideas send us a message and I’ll send some inspiration!
6. Bar station
Okay so some of you may think this one isn’t for you but trust me this is. If you’ve got a holiday home then perfect, set up a mobile bar filled with all your essentials. If you’re staying in a hotel why not put little hampers in each room, just a couple of cans of G&T mix or miniature prosecco’s so the hens can toast whilst getting ready.
7. Prop time!
Because who doesn’t love a fun photo! Think about introducing some props to the hens, these could be giant balloons, confetti cannons, smoke grenades, flags, veils, sashes, glasses the list goes on…
8. Insta opportunities
Following on from the last one, have a think about your photo opportunities. This one kind of falls into everything you do from the theme, to the decor, the food and drink and the activities.
Maybe you could think about a photo booth backdrop? Or if you’re out and about why not take a personalised frame? This will encourage everyone to take lots of beautiful snaps throughout the hen do.
9. Quizzes
- HENFEST
Time to cause some real giggles!! You can find so many amazing hen party quizzes online so you’ll have no trouble finding the perfect one for your party. From Mr & Mrs to Whats in her Bag, you can have some fun getting to know more about the bride and groom and for some quizzes even your fellow hens. Brilliant ice breaker and gets everyone talking.
10. The morning after cure
I’m not just talking about those with a sore head, although this is definitely a must for them. If you are planning a hen party which runs overnight, please make some breakfast/ brunch plans. You would have had a busy day and night prior and you need to make sure everyone stays hydrated and healthy so a fuel up is essential.
From heading out for breakfast, to individual picnic hampers and tea and coffee stations and maybe even a little heavy head emergency kit.
